Religion and Science

Religion paralyzes the brain; science develops it. Religion believes; science doubts. Religion falls upon the earth and prays; science stands erect and thinks. Religion retreats; science advances. Religion is barbaric; science is civilized. Religion believes in miracles, gods, devils and ghosts; science believes in nature, reason and common sense. Religion is born of fear and superstition; science is born of courage and reason.

    Yes, there seems to be a connection between politics, republicanism, sports and religion. This is that they are all irrational.

    “Science is based on reason and common sense; religion is based on emotion and superstition”? You might want to research the Wright Brothers on that. Almost all of the scientist of their time said it was common sense that flight was impossible. “Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible.” — Lord Kelvin, British mathematician and physicist, president of the British Royal Society, 1895.

    The FIRST rule of Science is to keep an open mind, but you’ve made yours up already so why should anyone waste their time trying to point this out?

    Science knows less than 1% of all there is to know. So in the 99+% of what we don’t know leaves no room for the existence of God? Unless you actually look into the possibility of God, as any good scientist would, you won’t know the answer until you die (and then it will be too late). I really hope you are not put into a situation where you have to find this out through tragedy. As for myself, I was put into a position where I did. I didn’t believe in God either but there I was. Finally I did something you’re not supposed to do, I asked him to prove himself to me. I stopped in a field while walking my dogs, looked up and said ” OK, think of me as Doubting Thomas (he’s the one that met Jesus after he rose from the dead and refused to believe it was him until he put his fingers in the actual nail holes in Jesus’s hands) and I’m not going to believe in you unless you really prove it to me. Prove yourself by giving me ___.” I asked for a physical object that I had always wanted since I was a kid. Within 5 seconds of saying that I had it in my hand. That was proof enough for me. I don’t know what “proof” you require but it is there and the scientist that have gone looking have found it.

    Here’s another 5 Scientist that were sure of themselves;

    “There is not the slightest indication that nuclear energy will ever be obtainable. It would mean that the atom would have to be shattered at will.” — Albert Einstein, 1932

    X-rays will prove to be a hoax.” — Lord Kelvin, President of the Royal Society, 1883

    “Fooling around with alternating current is just a waste of time. Nobody will use it, ever.” — Thomas Edison, American inventor, 1889

    “Rail travel at high speed is not possible because passengers, unable to breathe, would die of asphyxia.” — Dr Dionysys Larder (1793-1859), professor of Natural Philosophy and Astronomy, University College London.

    “To place a man in a multi-stage rocket and project him into the controlling gravitational field of the moon where the passengers can make scientific observations, perhaps land alive, and then return to earth – all that constitutes a wild dream worthy of Jules Verne. I am bold enough to say that such a man-made voyage will never occur regardless of all future advances.” — Lee DeForest, American radio pioneer and inventor of the vacuum tube, in 1926

      Scientists, especially good ones, don’t look into the existence of any supernatural component; especially an invisible man in the sky. God is make-believe, an invention of man when he didn’t even know what rain was. There have been hundreds if not thousands of gods invented by man since the beginning of time. Only weak and/or ignorant people need to believe that there is someone watching over us; people who are emotional rather than logical.

      What does all your rhetoric about scientific inventions have to do with God? You’re making no point. It’s not as if we’re going to invent a real God. Science is always looking to advance knowledge. Yet you people who believe in God believe simply because you were taught to believe by your parents or society. What does that prove? I’ll tell you what it proves; NOTHING! The God you believe in is based on your upbringing, there is no logical reason why you would believe in Allah, the Christian God, the hundreds of Hindu gods, the Easter bunny or the Tooth Fairy.

  3. The writer of the above statement looks like a person who held a knife upside down and tried to defend himself with that knife; logic requires first-thing-first, the writer has a brain to think and a hand to write, if you were to believe that you came out of the “ANCESTRAL GENE POOL” through which insects and other creatures came to existence, that’s your choice, you prefer to be equal with insects and animals. I prefer the other version for my existence; the creator of all galaxies, sun, moon, mars, etc is my creator, the unity of creatures leads to the unity of creator, you have a digesting system and respiratory system, etc. and all other creatures do have those systems, you can’t live without oxygen, other creatures can’t live without oxygen. Yes, science is facts, but also the one who created the writer is the utmost fact, God existed before the writer arrival to earth, God is immortal but the writer will soon die and turn into ashes. If you know how you will be decomposed after death, reverse it and that is the way you were composed in the womb of your mother. The difference between science and religion is simply put: science is material, religion is spiritual.
